Alopecia is a medical or technical term for ‘hair loss’ or ‘hair thinning’. There are many types of alopecia such as: alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, alopecia totalis, lichen planopilaris or scarring alopecia, telogen effluvium and alopecia universalis.
Women’s solutions for alopecia range from small postage stamp hair pieces to full wigs, depending on the amount of hair loss and pattern it’s taking. If a woman’s hair is just thinning out with no bald spots, sometimes an integration hair piece can be used. These ‘spider web’ like structures are lightweight and allow the wearer’s own hair to be gently lifted through the openings and utilized.
